At Express Auto Recovery, we proudly dedicate our Marine Vessel Recovery division to the memory of Captain Avilu "Bill" Williams, whose unwavering passion for the sea and dedication to his craft continue to inspire us every day.

Born in 1954 on the island of San Salvador, Bahamas, Captain Williams’ journey on the water began in the 1970s when his father purchased the Jeanette Walker, a mail boat that would become the foundation of his maritime career. Under his father’s guidance, Captain Williams and his brother Lewi learned the intricacies of the seas, a knowledge that would serve as the backbone of his legendary career.
Throughout the 1980s and beyond, Captain Williams’ influence grew, from captaining the San Salvador Express to managing various vessels, including the Sea Link, which transported passengers and vehicles between the islands. His work with the Bahamas government and on cargo ships helped shape the maritime landscape, and his dedication to training the next generation of captains left a lasting impact on the industry.

Though Captain Williams retired in the early 2000s to enjoy life with family and friends, his commitment to his profession never waned. He remained a trusted expert, offering his support in times of need and always ready to lend a hand when called upon.

In 2022, Captain Williams encouraged his son, Avanti Thompson, to expand Express Auto Recovery into marine vessel recovery. His belief in the vision and guidance in these early stages of the division meant the world, and we will forever be grateful for his encouragement, which helped us venture into new waters and grow our services.

Though Captain Williams passed away in June of 2023, just as our Marine Vessel Recovery division was taking shape, his legacy lives on in the work we do. Today, we honor his spirit and dedication to the seas by continuing to offer marine vessel recoveries, backed by US Coast Guard-licensed captains and skilled mechanics. We are equipped to recover vessels of any size and offer secure dockage for all your marine recovery needs.
